How much does the Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit cost? Plans, limits and free options
Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit pricing: what $99 a month buys, when Semrush One costs less, which add-ons raise the bill and what you can check for free

The Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit costs $99 a month per domain. The price is the same on monthly and annual billing, and the toolkit has no free trial. For that you get 25 prompts tracked every day, one domain in the Brand Performance reports and 300 AI analysis reports a day. Before you pay anything, Semrush lets you check a domain three times a day for free.
heeb publishes this blog and sells an API for AI answer data, which comes up once near the end. Every Semrush price and limit below comes from Semrush's own pricing page, help center and blog, read on October 23, 2026, in US dollars.

Quick summary
Buy the toolkit on its own if you want AI tracking for one brand and nothing else. If you already pay for the Semrush SEO plan, Semrush One Starter costs less than adding the toolkit and includes 50 prompts. Every extra 50 prompts costs $60, and every extra brand domain or teammate costs another $99. The toolkit tracks ChatGPT, Google AI Mode and Gemini daily, adds Perplexity only in weekly brand reports, and does not list Claude, Grok or Copilot at all.
Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit pricing at a glance
Prices are per month with monthly billing. Annual prices are in brackets where Semrush offers a discount.
| Option | Price | Prompts tracked daily | What else you get | Free trial |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free AI Visibility Checker | $0 | None | 3 checks a day, no account needed | Not needed |
| Free Semrush account | $0 | None | AI Search data in Domain Overview, 10 reports a day | Not needed |
| AI Visibility Toolkit | $99 per domain, also when billed annually | 25 | 1 Brand Performance domain, 300 AI reports a day, AI site audit of 100 pages | No |
| Semrush One Starter | $199 ($165.17) | 50 | SEO tools for 5 websites and 500 keywords | Offered |
| Semrush One Pro+ | $299 ($248.17) | 100 | SEO tools for 15 websites and 1,500 keywords | Offered |
| Semrush One Advanced | Custom, through a demo | Unlimited, per the pricing page | 40+ websites, API data integration | Demo only |
Two details are easy to miss. The plain SEO plan, at $139.95 a month, has no AI visibility features; the pricing page marks them as not included. And the help center still lists Advanced at 200 prompts, so ask for the real limit in the demo.
What you will actually pay
The cheapest route depends on two things: whether you also need Semrush's SEO tools, and how many prompts you want to track. Here are four common setups at list price, with monthly billing and before tax.
| Your situation | Cheapest Semrush route | Monthly cost |
|---|---|---|
| One brand, AI tracking only, up to 25 prompts | The toolkit | $99 |
| One brand, AI tracking only, 75 prompts | The toolkit plus one 50-prompt pack | $159 |
| You already pay for the SEO plan and want AI tracking | Semrush One Starter instead of the SEO plan | $199, against $238.95 for the SEO plan plus the toolkit |
| Three people need the toolkit | The toolkit plus two extra licenses | $297, plus their user seats |
Check the third row if you already pay for Semrush. Starter lists the same 5 websites and 500 tracked keywords as the SEO plan, adds 50 prompts, and costs $39.95 less than buying the two separately. Semrush's pricing FAQ says you can upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time.
What the $99 measures
The toolkit mixes three kinds of data. They come from different places and refresh at different speeds, which matters when a number moves.
| Report | Where the answers come from | AI engines | Refreshed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Visibility Overview, Competitor Research, Prompt Research | Semrush's database of more than 317 million prompts | ChatGPT, Gemini, AI Overviews, AI Mode | Daily, on a rolling basis |
| Prompt Tracking | The 25 prompts you choose, run by Semrush every day | ChatGPT Search, Google AI Mode, Gemini | Daily |
| Brand Performance | Queries Semrush links to your domain, with sentiment and share of voice | AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini | Weekly |
Sources: Semrush's data sources article and Prompt Tracking manual. Semrush says its prompt database is captured "from real requests and not via any APIs of LLMs".
Prompt Tracking is the part you control, and it looks like a rank tracker with an AI switch.

Read two of these numbers with care:
- AI Visibility Score. A 0 to 100 score that combines how many topics include your brand and how often you appear within them. It compares you with competitors that Semrush picks automatically, so the score depends on who Semrush counts as your competition.
- Average position. This ranks your domain among the sources an answer cites. In ChatGPT, Semrush counts the citations from top to bottom; in AI Mode, the answer itself is position 1 and the citations start at 2. It is not the order in which the answer names brands, and how often the answer names your brand is the separate Mentions metric.
Semrush is candid about the limits. Its data article says AI answers are "fast-changing and highly personalized", so "no platform can provide exact numbers on visibility", and it describes its metrics as "reliable directional signals". Treat a weekly drop as a reason to read the answers, not as a verdict.
Where the $99 stops covering you
- Engines. None of Semrush's toolkit pages lists Claude, Grok or Copilot. Perplexity appears only in the weekly Brand Performance reports, not in daily Prompt Tracking.
- More brands. Each extra domain or location in Brand Performance costs $99 a month.
- Getting data out. CSV exports are capped at 1,000 rows each and 10 exports a day per user. Semrush's October 2026 dashboard guide says of prompt-level results and cited pages that "neither dataset is available through the Semrush API yet", so they reach a spreadsheet through scheduled exports. API access is listed only on Advanced and Enterprise.
- Trial. You cannot try the toolkit on its own before paying.
Each teammate needs a license
The toolkit is licensed per person. Semrush's help center says every user who opens it needs their own $99 toolkit license, and the toolkit cannot be shared through shared limits. Adding that person to your Semrush account is a separate seat, priced from $45 a month.
The toolkit's AI site audit checks up to 100 pages and flags robots.txt rules or meta tags that block AI crawlers such as OAI-SearchBot. That is the right check, because robots.txt decides which pages those crawlers may fetch. An llms.txt file does not, as our look at what OpenAI does with llms.txt shows.
What you can check for free
Free is enough to answer one question: do AI answers mention you at all? It cannot show a trend, because none of these options reruns your prompts on a schedule.
- Free AI Visibility Checker. Semrush says you can use it "three times per day for free, without registering". It checks ChatGPT, Gemini, AI Mode and AI Overviews and shows an AI Visibility Score, mentions, citations, your most cited pages and a competitor comparison.
- A free Semrush account. Domain Overview has an AI Search section with mentions and cited pages, and Site Audit crawls up to 100 pages with an AI Search Health score, according to Semrush's free audit guide. Free accounts get 10 analytics reports a day.
- The AI Visibility Index. A public benchmark of 22 industries showing the 20 most-mentioned brands per market, month, industry and AI platform. Use it to see who leads your category, not to measure your own brand.
- Your own questions. Semrush's free audit guide ends with a manual step: ask three to five category questions in ChatGPT, Gemini or AI Mode and record whether you appear, where, and next to whom.
Is the Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit worth it?
It is a sound buy when:
- your team already works in Semrush and wants AI results next to its rankings;
- ChatGPT and Google's AI features are the engines your buyers use;
- 25 to 100 tracked prompts cover the questions that matter;
- people read the results in Semrush or in a monthly export.
Look elsewhere when you need Claude, Grok or Copilot answers, when you want raw answers in your own database or product, or when per-seat monthly pricing does not fit how often you check. Our comparison of nine AI visibility tools covers subscriptions with APIs and wider engine lists.
heeb is one of those options. It is an API that sends one question to OpenAI, Anthropic, xAI, Perplexity and Google AI Mode and returns each answer's text, ranked brand mentions, sentiment and citations as JSON. It runs from prepaid credits with no subscription and has no reporting dashboard, so you build the schedule and the report yourself.
FAQs
Does the toolkit track Google AI Overviews?
Partly, and Semrush's own pages disagree on the details. AI Overviews data appears in the prompt-database reports and in the free checker. For your own tracked prompts, the Prompt Tracking manual offers ChatGPT, Google AI Mode and Gemini while the data sources article also lists AI Overviews, so ask Semrush first if AI Overviews tracking is your reason to buy.
Can I check competitors with the toolkit?
Yes. The pricing page lists AI visibility reports for any domain, and the Competitor Research report shows how AI platforms position competitors against your brand. Brand Performance is the exception, because it covers one domain unless you pay $99 for each extra one.
How is the toolkit billed if I add it to an annual Semrush plan?
Semrush's help center says it is charged once, prorated for the months left in your annual term, and then renews on the same date as that subscription. In Semrush's example, an annual plan running January to December gets one charge for July to December when the toolkit is added on July 1.
Next step
Use today's three free checks on your domain and your two closest competitors. If a competitor shows up where you don't, write down the 25 buyer questions where that matters most. That list is what the $99 plan tracks, and you will need the same list whichever tool you choose.
